Rob...another thing to check is the tank petcock for function and good fuel flow.

Take a line from the big nipple and put it in a clear jar. Then take a vac line to the small nipple and set the lever in the ON position. Suck on the vac line and the fuel flow should be real solid and strong. When you let off the suction fuel flow should stop. Set it to REServe and do the suction again and see that it works the same way on REServe. Set it to PRIme with no suction and it should flow...set back to on and it should stop flowing.

If there is a weak fuel flow, then the next suspect is a partially clogged filter inside the tank. drain the tank down and remove the petcock and see that the inside filter isnt plugged. Dont use an inline filter between the tank and carbs though..this is just another restriction added that isnt necessary.

Lastly..replace the fuel line from the tank to the carbs. The rubber does break down and tiny specs of junk can get washed into the carbs and plug up jets.

I saved one other bike that was headed for the scrap yard several years ago. Only had to go half as far to get it, but if you are REALLY desperate, I'll come pick it up for you. Or maybe meet you half way?

And yet more...LOL Note that the petcock draws its vacuum off the brass nipple at the top rear of carb 2. If youre using a gravity tank to run the bike, this nipple has to be blocked off to eliminate the massive vacuum leak it s creating. And, what condition is the inside of the tank??? If its all crusty, rusty and otherwise not looking too good, give me a call for some tips on getting it clean without ruining the paint.

Had to ask. Just remember this though...Even if it had gas in it when you got it doesnt mean its good and clean. Fuel can make varnish lines and scum that sticks to the tank walls and settles to the bottom as well. If i get a bike and theres gas in it I first drain it. Then I swish a quart of Acetone inside for a good while and let it set..then more swishing. The acetone breaks down the scum and rinses it out.

I use 2 inch green painter tape to cover the tanks if the paints good so the chemicals dont ruin the paint. If its gonna get repainted I dont care if the acetone splashes on it. Point is to be certain every component in the fuel system is for sure clean and free of crap that can break off and migrate down stream to the carbs.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! Dont rinse a tank with the petcock and /or fuel sender unit in the tank. Remove them, make some metal covers and gaskets. Then clean away.

Listen to everything these guys say, and read the links they post thoroughly, these are great bikes when running correctly. Just have to take a break sometimes, i know all about that..
