Info neededJust picked up a 1978 GS1000E. I have no idea what be to the motor but it doe have Dyna coils and ignition, also has 4 into 1 exhaust and pods both of which seem to be no name generic. The bike runs OK, I raced it two weeks and seemed a little lacking on corner exit and lots of sputtering up top on the straight away. I took the carbs apart to clean and inspect and the first thing that caught my eye was a 142 main jet and a 15 pilot. could this be correct?

15 pilot is stock, 145 is not. You bought a bike this old and took it to the track without knowing what it was?Rob

Could the main be from Dynojet? Their numbering scheme is different from that of Mikuni.Ed

@ AZR Some friends that I race with and I had a challenge, $1000 limit (safety items excluded) on a vintage legal bike to race an event with our club. This weekend all of us will race together for the first time.
@ Nessism Thanks for the info I will call Dynojet today and see if those jets are in fact the numbers for the bike.

The $1000 race idea is greatness.Originally posted by racepaul View Post@ AZR Some friends that I race with and I had a challenge, $1000 limit (safety items excluded) on a vintage legal bike to race an event with our club. This weekend all of us will race together for the first time.

You can go to Dynojet's site and find the kit for your bike and they will have a PDF that shows what items (and jet sizes) they include in their kit.1982 GS1100E "Jolene"

Oops, I just checked... its a 3304 kit and showing as discontinued... so they don't list the items in the kit.Originally posted by TxGSrider View PostThe $1000 race idea is greatness.

Very cool project, good luck with it. And please, keep us posted with how it goes and of course some photos. Members on this site just suck this stuff up. There's also a link to carb specs here and maybe there's some numbers for a 1000 with pods and a pipe. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ght=carb+specs

As an aside a sort of similar event is/was put on by a group in Edmonton Alberta. It's called the 500 something and entails purchasing and putting an old clunker on the road for under $500.00 (excluding safety items of course) and doing a 500km group day ride. It's amazing the things Canucks will come up with to past the winter. LOL.'84 GS750EF (Oct 2015 BOM) '79 GS1000N (June 2007 BOM)
