    Re-rust fuel tank

Hi I have rust in my fuel tank, the paint is in excellent contition what is the best wat to de-rust and keep rust at bay?
Would you consider putting a liner in say por15? The tank does not leak.
    thanks.

I used Caswell's sealer. You MUST mask off your painted area as it gets everywhere.

Por-15 is a good product for a tank that's got solid metal. Caswell's sealer is super thick and difficult to flow, so it works great for tanks that have pinholes and need some reinforcement added to support the metal. Regardless of whether you decide to use a sealer or not, the tank needs to be 100% derusted and there are various options on how to do that. Don't be fooled into thinking you can just do some halfassed derust job and then seal. That's why so many sealing jobs fail. Regarding how to derust, there are at least 20 different threads in the archives that detail the process and all the various methods. Find one that matches your sensibilities and have at it.

      Good luck
