petrol cap vent

Hi i have a 1980 gs 550 i just brought and has been sitting idle for 10 years I have just rebuilt the carbs put fuel tank on and had a leak from tap when draining tank i have to take the cap off because the caps not venting can anybody tall me where the outside vent is.The fuel cap has a horse shoe riveted to the bottom with two holes but i cannot see where they go the tank has been lined and they painted the bottom of the cap thanks Graham

Not sure if yours is the same but the GS750E/GS1100E have a pin hole in the tanks nozzle/throat.

Thanks it has the lockable lid that flips up and the cap is a plane round lid type can you tell me as in a clock face where the hole in the tank nozzle is please Thanks GRAHAM
