There is a screw up the middle that holds it all together.
If it does not maintain tension, try using some BLUE Loc-Tite.

There's an adjustment at the carbs to take up some slack in the cable. It's located at the top of the 90 degree metal tube that the cable runs through.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

The plastic stop inside the housing might be damaged and not holding the cable end in position. Open up and check. Lots of used switches on ebay usually .
How's this project going?1981 gs650L

I've got the bike back together. It starts and runs which is amazing, but is leaking gas from the carbs and I can hear a bad tapping sound.
My old thread is live again and I'm posting my progress, if you have any suggestions
