I now have a small stumble off idle and after that it runs excellent through the entire rev range with no popping on hard decell. I am thinking since the carbs are as clean as they have ever been I need to lean out the needle slightly with an additional washer. Thoughts?

GS1000 CarbsI have CV carbs with a V & H street megaphone and stock airbox. I just got it running again after sitting for almost 4 years. I went though the carbs, kept the airscrews at 1 3/4" out with new O-rings as they were previously set at. The pilot has been bumped to 42.5, original plastic needle spacer pulled and replaced with two smaller washers to richen it slightly, main to 120. It ran slightly rich but never fouled plugs and I probably put 20K on this set up.

Just off idle would suggest the pilot circuit. Simplest thing to do is play with the pilot screw some to see if it has any effect. Beyond that, I'm not sure but checking the airbox sealing and air filter would be time well spent to assure something hasn't changed recently.Ed

Thanks Ed, think I need to go richer or leaner? I am at 1 3/4 turns out which is where it was 4 years ago. 82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg 82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg
