Would gs1150 carbs be a good upgrade for an 81 1000g?

Are you installing a big-bore kit and some (somewhat) radical cams, along with pods and a very free-flowing pipe?

If not, it might be too much carb.

If you are keeping the bike on the street, smaller carbs will keep velocities up inside the carb, which helps the moving air pick up and atomize the fuel.

Yes, the diaphragms and slides help a lot, but it still might be too much of a good thing, especially on a stock engine.

well it has pods and a vance and hines on it already. my head gasket is leaking oil down the side of the block, my options right now are top end freshen up to include
 slight porting by me
 radius valve job
deck the head. .020? unless advised against
 valve adjustments by me
and degree stock cams by me

buy one of ricks 1100s for it and drop in and cruise. but thats out of my price range for now as i have a machinist buddy who does all the bike stuff for one of the shops in town and can do up my stuff for next to nothing..........Last edited by thebrandonbeezy; 12-29-2017, 12:27 AM.
