Sputter and bog when hot - help please

    Howdy. 79 gs1000. Pods. V&H 4 into 1.

Bike has been set up that way for 7 years. Always ran great at all air temps and regardless of engine temp.

Today started running just just as always. Zipped through traffic and zoomed down the freeway.

After being caught in stop & go traffic on 90 degree day, started sputtering and popping. Bogged with any throttle other than light. Felt very hot.

Parked the bike for 2 hours. Started right up and took off. After about 5 minutes, same symptoms. Got it home but had a difficult time maintaining 70mph. Jerk, sputter, pop, fart.

I will check plugs tomorrow, but can you all please let me know if you have experienced similar trouble and the cure?

    thanks very much in advance.

Well, I'd check the valves. And be sure to follow the factory specified method, not the "point the cam lobe away from the bucket" method.

A plugged up fuel cap vent may be contributing to the issue. Sounds like a vapor locking issue.
