I'm having trouble finding exhaust pipes from a 1979 GS850GN. Can anyone tell me what other years would fit a '79? Or does anyone know of any good resources for finding out what year's parts will fit a '79 (also having trouble finding a gas tank for a '79). Thanks in advance!

'80 and '81 850G pipes will likely work, but will include the "H" pipe under the engine. If the "H" pipe is not there, or is in poor shape, two pieces of straight pipe from the exhaust shop will work just fine.
I installed a set of '79G pipes on my wife's '82L, so I KNOW that the mounts are different there, but they look like they match up to my '80, so the '80/'81 pipes should work.

looking at the Mac exhaust page below, you can see what they say which exhausts crossover from various models. some years ago Mac got a bad rep for some reason, but i bought a 4/1 for my cb350f and quality was top-notch.
ebay has a nice used system that may fit.
