    Carb install 1983 GS1100

    Is there a preferred method to get it together with that god-awful lack of clearance everywhere? I know about pliable, boots, warming, etc. It was a bear to get them off. Can the engine be tilted slightly forward or anything? 1/4 inch would certainly help......

    Apparently you're using the stock airbox. My sympathies.

      I've heard you can shove the rubbers back into the airbox a ways and then tender them back out after the carbs are installed? Anybody try that?

        Are you talking about an E,G or L?

          If he is having THAT much difficulty, it won't be a G or an L (really a GL).

              And it was not EZ removing my airbox - took me a couple of days with the Dremel. Not kidding.

                I just fitted carbs to a 82 GSX750ET/GSX750EX, I found it pretty easy by fitting the carbs to the airbox rubbers, I left the airbox loose and pulled the carbs backwards slightly with the airbox, then just slipped in each inner intake rubber and then the outer rubbers. It was all done inside an hour, spent a day cursing trying other methods. The intake boots are angled fitting them last allows you to put the thin part in and turns the boots around.
