You should start a new fresh thread about the drag encountered when advancing the engine. That's not a good sign. Put the new thread in the 4 Cylinder Engine Section. If the chain somehow jumped and the cams got out of time, it could cause piston to valve contact or other problems as well as ill-timed compression. Maybe carbon buildup could also cause problems with the valves closing.Originally posted by noaho View Postnope, it hasn't. how could I identify bad cam timing? When I was hand turning the engine for the valve adjust it didn't turn smooth at all points, had a lot of drag and resistance sometimes. not sure if this relates?1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.
