    vinegar on black chrome exhaust

Trying to clean up my black chrome exhaust with some 0000 steel wool, but it's not touching the rust spots. Anyone try vinegar on theirs? I know it's acidic so I'm not sure if it would eat through, even though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't. thanks

I use it to clean my stove reflectors. Put them in a zip lock with a little vinegar, leave them overnight, and the burnt on black stuff comes right off.

    Exhaust? Don't know....

The black plating is thin and prone to rub through. Be careful. I'd leave well enough alone if steel wool and standard chrome polish doesn't remove the tarnish.

ok I dipped one end of the pipe for 2 days. It did remove the rust and didn't harm the finish, but it just revealed deep pitting. Not worth it. Thanks!

Seeing that's already black colored POR-15 might be what you want on that.
