    GS650 Exhaust fit question

I have a 82GS650 with a pretty beat up exhaust. Wasn't planning on doing anything to it, but I saw a fellow looking to swap a 4-1 from a 78 GS850 for a stock set of duals, wasn't picky about condition!
Jumped at the opportunity at first, but in reading through some forums it would seem that the headers won't fit from the 78 850 to the 82 650.
can someone confirm that for me before I contact the seller.
PS I do have the dyno-jet kit so that would not be an issue.
    Thanks!

850 pipes won't fit. And first year for the 850 was the 1979 model year.

I believe the 550 pipes fit but I could be wrong so don't order anything for a 550!

On the other hand, a mac reverse cone exhaust does sound great.

Does that also mean that GS650 pipes might fit a 1981 GS550? The pipes on my 550T are ~OK, but I'm always looking for cleaner ones

They will fit the head but are unlikely to line up at the rear mounts.
