    starter selinoid fails

    Ive had this happen a few times. Selinoid wont click but i get a signal on the trigger wire when pressing the start button. Take selinoid off and it clicks when tested directly to the battery.. install it and nothing. Problem is solved by making a ground wire from one of the monting screws to the battery. Once its well grounded it will work properly.

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

      Seems the electrical panel isnt very securly attached to the frame thus it has very poor grounding capability. Adding the jumper wire instantly solves the issue.

        This was for me a benefit of using one of the solenoid mounting posts as the single point ground.
        Halfway between battery and r/r, within range of the two ring terminals above the airbox and in plain sight, almost

          Yeah I always run a jumper wire from those plates back to a SPG then to battery.

            Yep
            soleniod mounted to the battery box. And battery box not well grounded to the frame.
            is suppose to be a ground wire (blk/wht) from the bike main harness connected to solenoid mounting bolt (ring terminal) to ground the battery box. But often that gets left off, or that wire gets melted with some r/r failure.
            And in stock wiring the r/r ground wire is connected to the battery box too, so, chuck, maybe the bike wasn’t charging either.

            Yep, is a typical good thing to add own ground wire from solenoid mounting bolt to frame ground or batt-, just so are not relying on that blk/wht wire from main harness.

              When you said you got signal on trigger wire but solenoid didn’t click, you must have had the tester negitive on frame ground (or batt-).
              if you then move tester negitive to solenoid mounting bolt, you would not see the “signal on trigger”. Right then you would know the problem is that the solenoid is not grounded.

                Same result by just grounding it direct to the battery.
