For my first post on the forums, I’m hoping to get some help locating some spark plugs for my ‘83 GS550L. Some parts warehouses are saying that the plugs are an NGK D9EA type, but I can’t find any on Amazon for less than $44cdn apiece. Anyone know similar plugs that will work or drop-ins? I’ll try to get some pictures of the plugs in another post soon. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Welcome to GSR, try google, NGK D9E cross reference chart. Back in the day NGK or Nippon Denso were the most popular for our bikes, but I don't remember hearing of any bad ones.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. I think 9s may be discontinued. Ive used d8ea without issue though many plug replacement intervals.1983 GS 550 LD

yeah i know, have been bit by fake NGK B8ES spark plugs.
Would fail several within a couple thousand miles, sometimes 100 miles.
Was looking at everything on my bike and when the box of 10 (fake) B8ES
plugs was done i put in some 20 year old used ones i had laying around.
Problem solved, but it made me look for issues with the plugs and only then found out
there were fakes around ... and a lot of them, too.

I've switched to ND plugs. They are just as good as NGK, but easier to find these days.Ed
