To find a SH775, search ebay for "4012941" or "710001103", toggle "used", then sort by cheapest price. Make sure the photos show "SH775" printed on the top fin. Also, look at photos of the plastic connector closely, it's not unusual for the connector to be broken.

Triumph PN T2500676 is for a harness, that's easy to adapt to your bike.

For a stator, I like Ricks, but they are expensive. You can find much cheaper. I've never heard of any companies making bad stators.

Open the generator cover and check the wiring inside.
I thought my stator was toast and got another.
When I opened up I found some genius had used bullet connectors inside and the wires had fused together.
        The stator was fine.
A damaged stator will generally have signs of overheating, discoloured insulation on one or more phases.

Question about this.... WHat do you do with the other wires... I have 3 yellows... no problem.. there is also a black white, red and an orange that went into another molex connector that leads to the harness. I get the red connection, what about the other two?

As built, three wires come from the stator. Two go directly to the r/r. the third takes a run up to the headlight and back to the r/r.
Typically it heads off as a Green/ White and comes back as a Red/ White.
You want to cut out this loop entirely and take the three generator wires directly to the r/r.
It doesn't matter which of the three generator wires go into the three r/r input pins.
Page 474 here is for the SD model but I can't imagine the E being any different.

Is it showing "0" ohms or is it showing that there is zero continuity? Does your meter have a continuity setting (usually an audible buzzer). "0" is bad as that means the insulation is breached & you have a dead short but no continuity is good... that's what you want!

The only other way to test a stator is running. You should be able to measure about 60-80v AC between any of the three legs (measure them in pairs till you've measured each combination). Good luck!

The black/white wire is the ground for the R/R.

The solid ,Orange wire runs from the ignition switch, through a connector, and continues on to the fuse box. When the ignition key is in the "ON" position, that solid Orange wire then supplies power to all three of the 10 amp fuses in the fuse box.

Right, so I can account for all the other wires... I have a diagram I can see that, but the new reg rec does not have a connection for the orange black. So what do people do with this to close the loop?

Orange/black? I was responding to your previous post, which was:

My post was in regards to only the black/white wire and to the orange wire, as you said you knew where the red wire goes. What is this orange/black wire of which you now speak?

What R/R did you buy? Based on your comments, not a SH775.

Lets make this easier with photos. I am removing the OEM original reg rec. I can account for the stator wires, no problem. I can account for the red power wire, and the black and white ground. No problem.

Now you are left with a orange and black wire out of the old reg rec, that connects to a molex connecter that on my bike has a orange wire, that then goes to an orange green wire in the harness. The diagram for the SH775 does not take into account how to preserve this circuit. I am trying to figure out, what happens to this connection, as it would now have no power from the reg rec.

Tape off the existing harness connections for the stator and R/R, and wire per my diagram. The only connection you should put back to the harness, is the red power wire output from the R/R.

Ok. I am trying to learn electrical... so what happens to the stuff that is on that orange/ orange green circuit into the harness?

If you are changing the R/R, I find no Orange or Orange/Green wire that connects to the R/R.

I have been through two wiring diagrams for the GS1100 bikes. No place can I find an Orange/Black wire. And the legend for wire colors on these diagrams don't even list an Orange/Black as a wire color.

Maybe you have a bike that had the wiring modified by a PO.
