    GS750 Charging system….I hate them!

    Hi guys,
Can’t seem to find the charging system article done by Basecliff anymore, can someone remind me where it is please?

I have rebuilt my GS750 1977, full strip and rebuild of carbs etc and it starts on the button better than any GS I have ever owned. Happy days on that level.

However, battery shows 12.60 volts before starting and stays the same after starting at any revs so assuming it is not charging.

Firstly, I must say, I hate electrics!

I have an after market stator and reg/rec.

Continuity from each of the stator yellow wires / windings shows there is no grounding.

Ohms Resistance from each of the stator yellow wires strangely shows 1.6 and the manual states it should be 0.65 +/-0.05.

i assume my stator is dead?

Can anyone give me a pointer?

    Many thanks

    Adi.

    Put the voltmeter on AC
Disconnect the stator wire connections, start the engine and test between any 2 of the 3 wires
Rev to 4k, it should show at least 70 V AC between all 3 pairs
