The Suzuki ignition system does not have a CDI.

Matchless has done some repair work on certain model ignitors. He's the guy to talk to on this subject. I suggest you search him out and drop him a Private Message asking for information. He's a heck of a nice guy and will help if he can.

CDI stands for Capacitive Discharge Ignition, but the GS system (actually Nippondenso I think) doesn't use this technology. CDI's are common on dirt bikes.

Matchless has some info where the stock ignitor can be replaced with automotive ignition parts. Looks like a fairly simple conversion if repair of the old ignitor is not possible. Regarding that, the later ignitors are potted so they can't be repaired but the early ones can as I recall.
