Turn Signals Misbehaving-where to start
Up until recently my turn signals worked flawlessly. Now in the mornings the right signal doesn't work until I use the left signal a few times. Does that give anyone an idea of where to start looking? By the time I get off work and fight traffic in this heat I'm in no mood to begin tearing down and beginning a full diagnostic on the system.Tags: None -

most likely dirty connections or sockets
tedious cleaning is in your future
i have had the exact symptoms you describe
and twas the inevitable curse of corrosion
id do the back first cos its likely easier to access
maybe crap in the switch as well hit it with some contact cleaner
disassembly is best but take car
i disassemble sitches in an old pillow case cos finding a spring is not fun after it flys off into spaceLast edited by Guest; 06-24-2010, 12:36 PM. -

Thanks, I have another switch on the parts bike. I'll start there and later clean and paint the one that is on the bike now.Comment

I changed the turn signal switch and harness assembly. That did not cure the problem, so I changed the indicator control unit and that did cure the problem. I'm guessing there are relays in the black box. I haven't opened it yet. I hope it can be cleaned up and put back in service.Comment
