chevy Hei modual igniter

Do you guys think an igniter made from the chevy HEI moduals could be mounted inside the Left hand side cover? Or would it get too hot and melt it.

other than the triggering setup, you will have no advance curve, you'd better mount it to a metal heat sink or it will overheat and quit. probably before it melts the cover.

I thought it might be nice just to have it there on the side where it plugs in, Instead of mounting it on the right and running the wires across to the left like my stock igniter box.

I'd put the HEI on the battery box, where the stock ignitor fits. There should even be a little airflow down there which won't hurt since I've heard those units run hot.

silicone grease the bottom of it and mount it solidly, in its intended application the distributor body is the heat sink.
