Positive terminal heating up?

I have an 82 GS650GL, just rebuilt the carbs and after reassembly the bike started a couple times, but then refused to turn over. I am gettin spark in the plugs but noticed the positive terminal on the battery was heating up significantly. Does anyone know what this might be an indication of?

Can be corrosion, but also could be a partial tear across the terminal between the ring and the crimp. I've seen older bikes with this issue after they had had multiple battery changes. The terminals get moved around and fatigue crack.

Heating up is an indication that too many amps are trying to flow across too small of a wire or part. Corrosion can do that too.

Heat is merely the result of conservation of energy. In a correctly designed and operating electrical system, little heat would be generated. Since you have noticed it, there is an issue. As noted, check all connections and let us know your findings.
