upgrading from points, question

would you like to repeat that about the igniters..i'm all ears
what i mean is...to my knowledge the 8v. electronic advance igniter even though they look the same/plug in the same as the 700/750 will not interchange.
you did use the 700 harness you said and that would let the trigger plate which does plug in the same on the 8v. and 16v. function.
this is what i have always thought and i'm just trying to confirm that the 8v. and 16v. electronic advance igniters are the same or not compatible as i have always thought.

I thought we had a discussion about this a couple of weeks back. Ignitor plates apparently will swap and all advance units have 20 degrees built in (8V and 16V) so the only thing to watch for is that you properly advance the timing. 12 degree for 16V IIRC

i am asking about the IGNITER only...
he stated that the igniter from the 700 was the same as the 83 850..
to my knowledge they are not.
he used the 700 harness which would make the interchange point mute.

same ???? .................In form, function or part number?

I suspect they can be made to work even if he has to slice a few wires

If not maybe that link to GM HEI mod would be helpful
