Turn relay
Anyone know what car turn relay will work on a 85 700, I used the one from bikecliffs website and still no flash. I just dont want to buy 4 relays and have to take 3 back.Tags: None -
What about it does not work?
Does it not come on at all?
Does it come on, but won't flash?
I am assuming that the '85 probably uses a system similar to the '80 to '83s that I am more familiar with. There are three pins on the flasher, but they don't match up with anything you are likely to find at Auto Zone. One terminal is power from the battery, a second terminal is the flashed output to the signals, the third one receives a signal from the control unit that tells the flasher when to stop the flashing sycle. It's that control input that will not match up. You should be able to use any 2-pin, load-independant (electronic) flasher that fits in the other two terminals. Keep in mind, though, that you will NOT retain your self-cancelling signals.
I have looked at the 3-pin flashers available. I have seen at least three different pin connection layouts that will physically match the Suzuki flasher, but the functions of the pins don't match, so you will never get them to work. Use a 2-pin flasher, then remember to turn them off manually.

I actually just tried my luck at pep boys with a newer EP34 and it was plug and play.. It pauses for a second when I first flip the switch but then blinks just fine.Comment

I would guarantee that they are NOT.
It's not the flasher that does the self-cancelling, it's the control unit. The flasher has what is effectively a little tiny relay in it that is controlled by the control unit. When the control unit says TURN ON, the flasher unit starts its flashing cycle and continues until the control unit says TURN OFF.
