          Pete, congratulations man, I have been a bit remiss on following the thread of late. Thought I would check in tonight and was delighted to here you got a dyna product sorted and confirmed it works.

          I guess that is the route I will take. I plan on reading everything again and make me some step by step instructions. If I order the kit from dyna I should ask for the spacer they use on the bigger bikes?

          So the dynatek kit just plugs and plays? Did you have to modify anything or did it require any other parts that are not supplied by dynatek. (not counting electrical connections etc)

          You did a good job documenting the assembly and the pictures help alot but like I said I need to review it all to make sure I do not miss anything.

          You are one determined guy. Thanks for sharing all your hard work!

            Thanks mate, I'm absolutely stoked to hear it run properly at last!!!

            First of all, one word on the Dynatek... it's not officially a supported option at present, very much just a one off and as far as the DS3-3C goes, it's still officially a points replacement for the early GS400's.

            I will be doing up some detailed installation instructions as we have to work something out for the oil pressure switch, and you need to take care with the clearance between the Dynatek plate and the oil pressure switch screw terminal as it's a bit close for comfort.

            I'll be grinding about a 2mm deep indent in the plate when I get a chance to make sure there's lots of clearance for it.

            I'm not sure if they would include the spacer etc. at the moment as it's not officially a supported option at present, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask.

            Electrically, you can either follow the Dynatek instructions to the letter and cut the existing coil wires or you can make up some short jumper leads and swap connectors like I did, up to you on that one.

            Thanks for the kudos, it's been a hell of a lot easier than stuffing around with the HEI setup, however I will definitely be revisiting the HEI setup as well.

            Let us know if you do get one, it would definitely be good to see another one in use to confirm what I've seen...

              When adding the dynatek can the stock igniter be completely removed? I assume it can but when in doubt it is better to ask.

              It will be around Christmas or after before I get a chance to do this. I got another project that has taken priority and riding season is rapidly ending for me. But I will get that little bike running soon. I have put too much into it to just let it set.

              Hey I also stubbled on the other forum where you have lots of info and pics about the complete build of your bike. Its good stuff, you are really doing a fine job on that thing. I especially like the front end work you are doing.

                  While I'm still going to knock over the HEI idea with the assistance of Lou (off the forum) and now another guy who's doing the same, the Dynatek will be what I actually run with.

                  Yep, the Dynatek removes the ignitor altogether, and everything is housed on the signal plate behind the ignition cover so it's very compact.

                  And that timeframe should work well actually as I'm hoping mine will be on the road before Christmas.

                  I also just realised you have the 250 don't you? That'll be interesting, Scott from Dynatek guy was saying he'd never been asked about one for the 250 before, so this will surprise him if you do it!

                  The signal generator plate and ignitor are exactly the same as on the 450, but the advance mechanism shows a different part number which could potentially put a spanner in the works.

                  Can you accurately measure the inside diameter of your rotor and the height of it? A pic would be handy too. As long as the rotor is physically the same as the 450's, then there should be no dramas with the Dynatek working.

                  The parts fiche is telling me the same bolt is used on your 250 as on the 450's and that the 19mm cap nut is also the same, so I reckon it's probably the same rotor, but they don't list it separately to the entire advance mechanism to be sure.

                      Aaah I see! So your bike shares the same ignitor, but the signal generator plate mounts very differently, so even if you were wanting to go the Dynatek path I'm not sure that it would be so easy to fit.

                      So I'm doubly keen now to see what you have in the works

                          Oh wow you're more patient than I am! I started doing the very same thing early on with the heat gun but when I saw what it was doing to the components I gave it up as a lost cause, so well done!

                          It'll be good to know what those real stock components are and I have my module still sitting there with most of the resin removed too.

                                That'll be very interesting Kokar! Hopefully we can end up with some different options here so can people can choose if they want to make something or buy something.

                                For the 550's like yours, the Dynatek's probably not the easiest option, so what you're doing will be great, although the HEI setup should work as well.

                                Please post what you do, I'm sure others beside myself will be very interested as well.
