    Headlights and reading.

    Ok this isnt which heat number is best or who makes the best replacement. When I ordered a pair of replacement H4s for my bike, I didnt notice them being 100/90 instead of the standard 60/55. Should assume that its too much of a jump in watts for the bike to handle? Charging system-wise of course. I know theyre not DOT legal, Im just wondering about the jump in wattage.

      The 90-watt low beam might sap your battery at lower RPM, but the 100-watt high beam will only be used when engine speed is up, so that should not be too much problem.

      Where did you find 90/100?
      I have seen 80/100 and 90/130, but not the 90/100.

          I did a google search and they came up on Amozon. Ive used the same manufacture for the Calibers headlight (h13 though) I may have to take the time and clean some of the wiring that a 30 year old has to get some of the current drop off back. Check for GP Thunders. I got them in a 7500K range. They really light up the road and have a very nice wide light patten.

              I use the 100/90 in my bike with no issues. I did replace the stator and rectifier (they were burnt up) before I installed the bulb. They are not road legal here but have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for using them. Easier to see deer and on coming traffic can see you better. Never had anyone flash their lights for such a bright high beam either. Go for it they work great!

                  I would suggest running a relay for the headlight. I had a 100w hi on my 850 and melted part of the fuse holder

                      I have a h4 headlight and converted it to hid , the difference is night and day.

                          Agreed. and they take less power than the stock 60/55


                          I've tryed the 100W/90. I've noticed a delay in the switching from low to high because of the amount of current required.

                          Not good at night to even if its just for .5s !

                          I've noticed that the charging system can take it but the wiring cannot and eventually melts wires or the weakest connection.

                          Mine happened to melt the 3 prong connector on the light. (the rest of the wiring is already upgraded so it was the weakest link)

                              Candlepower has some nice ceramic socket replacements. You will need it with that wattage bulb, they melt the plastic sockets.
