Yeah I thought it was a bit rude, but we're used to that over here.

Even though the Aussie dollar is very strong at the moment (maybe wavering a little at present), we still get stupid markups over what you guys get over there and it actually makes no sense whatsoever.

Over here it seems to be a matter of how much profit can I make on one individual item rather than how can we sell a lot of these by lowering the profit on one individual item? </rant>

Thanks for the heads up on batteryspace.com, I'll take a peek...

540 city miles and 3 months down, no issues at all with the Shorai battery! (knock on virtual internet wood).

Scalylabs, there is guy on the GSTwins site by the screen name Adidasguy that has Shorai batteries in (I think) all 3 of his GS500's. He swears by them as well. And a guy on dotheton.com by the name T71ford had an issue with the first generation Shorai battery - but after talking to the president of the company and getting the current generation battery he has had nothing but experiences with it as well.

Glad to hear you're having more success with the Shorai!

At about $260 locally here a Shorai is just stupidly expensive... I ended up with a standard battery again for $69 delivered to my door... it'll do...

GM has since come out with a de-energizing procedure for damaged battery packs to avoid this issue. Think of it kind of like draining a damaged gas tank.

NHTSA is currently doing more testing where they are now impacting the battery pack directly (not as part of an assembled car) without de-energizing the battery to help determine the root cause of the fire.
