I have a 1979 GS1000L. I have narrowed the problem with the turn signals down to the turn signal control unit. I do not have an automatic cancel unit. I noticed that on the wiring diagram I have for the GS1000 for the TSCU that there is one connector and a loose wire. On my unit there are two connectors and no loose wires. I was hoping to just get a replacement but cannot find one. Could someone help me find a replacement or let me know if there is a suitable aftermarket fix for this? Thanks. cj ....HOLY Shiezah. I found the part number 38830-49001 and looked up the cost for replacement. Like $362. I found a diagram on this site http://---.motogrid.com/pages/OemPar...5%2f5602300031. It lists this as auto cancel. I didn't think mine was auto cancel though since my switch has an off position.

I was hoping to send you a link to an E-bay auction for one, it was listed as an ignitor for a '79 850. It says it just sold, the price $125.
Those things are now scarce, and I've been through over a dozen of them just looking for one good one, still am.Comment

Don't you need that for "Penelope?" or did you just want me to check it out for serviceability for you? I've gotten to the point where I hardly use the turn signals on either of my bikes that much, except at times when I do feel it's neccessary. It's just nice to have a bike with working turn signals. We don't any state bike inspections to go through in Florida, why you don't even have to have insurance on a bike.Comment
