    Dyna S 1982 GS1100 Question

I bought the Dyna S along with the coils and wires to replace my factory ignition on my 1982 GS1100(L). I need a mechanical advancer from a previous model, but I do not know if I need the '80-'81 GS1000 one, or same year ('82) GS1000 one. They are both different part numbers '80-'81 is 33120-45110 and '82 is 33120-49211. So which one do I need to use? The '81 model seems to be easier to find on the net, as they are both discontinued.

I PM'd him but my "Sent" file still says "0". So I don't know if he got it.

By default sent PMs are not saved to your out-box. It should be sent, nonetheless. You can check a box to save your messages as you send them or I think you can also set that as a default.

          ANSWERED P/M'S
78-78 GS1000 advancer is what you need.
don't use the supplied aluminum washer as this unit is shorter than 80 and later model's.

i have a box of advancers but i get 65.00 each or 50.00 each to members here.
            8 and 16 valve parts for 750-1150.
you may find them cheaper...so be it.
i have gotten the same $ for these for the last 15 or so years.

              I misread this thread originally...

I thought any 8V 1000 advancer would work? No? Only early 78-79 points type?

any mechanical advancer will work 8 or 16 valve but the 8 valve advancers have the correct timing marks.

cept he will have to use the aluminum washer between the 19mm nut and the rotor.
pre-80 models are shorter and a lot more common to find.

I'm guessing I need the bolt and that nut as well from that model? The bolt I have has that hex hole in the center that sits in that nice brass nut with 1 ear for the ignition.
