Yes, I read that and did the tests, much more informative than the 'stator papers' The tests in the stator papers never worked for me. All R&R's (good or bad) tested bad with the stator papers tests

Well it was either sit there for several hours to let the bike cool down, or get the guy to use his booster
I think he said he was feeding it 40A to get it to start.

My standard size Shumacher has a starting mode of (supposedly) 40 Amps. It is what I would call a hand-held vs. one on a roll cart.

Stator tested good, 50VAC and even at 3k rpm and 60VAC at 4k rpm.
I will get my new R&R installed on my days off.
The question I asked before is that this one has two red and two green wires. Do I connect them together then to the battery. Or just tape one off Does it matter?
There are 2 red, 2 green, 3 yellow, one black (sense)

The Stator Papers has a couple of active tests that are very informative (like the voltage drop between the r/r output and the battery positive). But I put those together as "quick and dirty" tests to aid in troubleshooting. I have found that almost any test will tell you if you have a bad part but won't necessarily prove that you have a good part.

The one he used was on like a dolly, he only used 40a, but I am sure it went much higher.

The 2 red wires are the output voltage. I would splice them together, put a 20A fuse inline, and connect to the battery. the 2 green wires are your grounds. Depending on your outlook, you could run 1 to the battery and 1 to a frame ground. Or run both to a common ground, dealer's choice.
Multiple wires decrease heat and increase efficiency, so I would certainly connect them all.

I wired in the new R&R, soldered most all the connections. One neg wire to frame the other to batt + . I still have a flaky charging system. The stator wires get warm when running. I am using spade connectors, and there are a couple butt connectors inline as well.
I am getting tired of it, so I am going to solder the wires in now. I tested the stator and it checks out fine. I think the heat created in the wires is because of resistance in the wires caused by bad connections.

I gave up on spade conections and just solder mine in too.

Yup spades are no good, every spade that I had was running hot/warm.
I soldered every connection i could find in the charging system.
