"New" R/R Installation

Just rec'd my "New" R/R. It is a SH014AA, taken from 2100 CBR1000RR. There are 5 male blades in 2 groups of sockets made for conjoined connectors to fit into.

The 3 that are in one of the sockets are certainly for the 3 leads from the stator. The other socket has two, I am guessing one is ground and the other is for the red wire that feeds, eventually, to the battery.

This looks like so many of these that use plug in connectors, but I have to use individual wires w/female spade ends.

Can anyone advise me as to which lead from my '81 GS850G goes to each of the two remaining contacts on the R/R/....or is there a test method to id which?.....or a clear schematic of a 2011 CBR1000RR that would show which? BassCliff's info showed anR/R with imbedded wires. I plan to photograph the work & if there is a spot on some web page to add info/pics for this style of R/R I will supply.

Old R/R got fried, don't wanna fry this by stupid owner tricks.

The inside one is +ve & the outside one is -VE



Best way is to get the right connectors from Eastern Beaver http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/products.html

Thanks for the quick "back-at'cha". Not familiar with "ve" but I can read "+" as pos to batt & "-" as ground. Lessen I'm reading wrong, no need to reply. The text in the light blue boxes is pretty hard to read.

+ positiVE / - negatiVE

It's an easy upgrade. Take both connections back directly to the battery with a 30amp inline fuse on the +ve if I was you. Ensures the best connections. You can also ground it to the frame as well. That's what most of us do I believe...

Thank U salty-monk. On prev setup w/ the Electrosport R/R I had ground direct to batt neg like you said BUT the red lead I took right into the red lead in the wiring harness. If you are certainly sure I can run the red lead right to the batt pos I will do it.

Right now I am modding the bottom of the battery box to take the new unit whose holes are close but not dead on. I didn't want to hog the holes on the R/R out any so feel it's easier for me to rig a modified mount. Trying to take pix of the job in case any are interested.

Found the male blades are on the R/R are fatter than the connecters I keep in stock so will pick some oversized ones next day or so.
