Guys on my1979 USA Gs1000n that i am just finishing rebuilding, this model has a switch built into the clutch lever,whereas my UK Gs1000 1978 has no clutch switch. On circuit diagrams i have ,it is not shown? what is its function and where does it connect to? is my query..Thanks in anticipation Paul J

Over here, it's wired in series with starter button- if you don't pull in clutch lever, the starter solenoid won't engage. Lots of us just bypass it (the connections are probably in headlight bucket) and live dangerously.Originally posted by PAULJAC47 View Post1981 gs650L

There are two wires going to the clutch switch. The clutch swith is in series with the starter solenoid. When the clutch is not pulled in the two wires are disconnected from each other thus blocking voltage from getting to the solenoid which would enable the starter. When the clutch switch is pulled in it allows the voltage to pass through to get to the solenoid.Originally posted by PAULJAC47 View Post

Inside the headlight housing, there are two bullet connectors going to this switch. Conveniently, one is male, one female, join them together and the switch is no longer in the system.Originally posted by posplayr View PostComment
