Guest repliedNo fuses blown or shorts in sight. Multimeter is also, strangely, dead. Fresh batteries and nothing, so I need to buy another one of those. Was really hoping for a "snowman with his hat blown off" situation.
No such luck.Leave a comment:

Guest repliedThey are virtually the same size, give or take a few thousanths of an inch, with the 15/16" socket/wrench being FAR EASIER to find everywhere.

Guest repliedCorrect. Despite my performance yesterday, I am usually quite prepared. Brought nearly a full set of tools (you know, except the 23mm socket for the rear axle nut. Those are SUPER rare, don'tchaknow?)Leave a comment:

Guest repliedFreeways in Chicagoland are generally more like really long narrow parking lots. Of course, it still sucks to get stranded there, so I am glad that everyone is OK. Three cheers for the Chicagoland GSR crew (not including me, since I only saw the thread after the fact and didn't contribute to the rescue
).

Dammit...we never really had time last night to check out all the wiring...
I agree with George and Chuck...check the wires. Especially everything under the tank we messed with. And the fuses...if you have a short, it could have blown a fuse.
You have a meter, correct?Leave a comment:

Guest repliedMy 1100E did the same thing on me. Removed the headlight and the connector to the ignition switch was just loose enough to cause the failure. Zip tied the two connector parts together - no more issues.Leave a comment:

Mike, you do know you do have to maintain these things from time to time.
Jump the battery and see if She'll 'light up'.Leave a comment:

Its just a loose connection somewhere...check all the ground loops on the frame too and maybe take some steel wool and polish them and the frame where they mount. Dab of grease to keep them from oxidizing again. Turn on the key and start wiggling..when the lights come back on youve probably found it.Leave a comment:

Guest repliedThis is seriously shaking my confidence in riding it the rest of the way.
Seriously considering just leaving it here with a friend and selling it.Leave a comment:

Also..if youn had the tank off, check all the connectors under there that it could have snagged putting the tank back on.Leave a comment:
