Dyna S Ignition for me?

Hi guys, I'm rebuilding my basket case 1978 GS550.
I am doing a kind of minimalist brat-tracker style and will be using kick start only, reasons are mainly so that I can use and hide a very small battery and saving some weight in the process. I would like to use one of the Dyna Ignition sytems (Dyna-S Electronic Ignition DS3-1 - Suzuki GS fours (with KD ignition), can this be used in my situation, only having kickstart, also I have no CDI, not knowing anything about auto electrics (can ya tell? ) I just wondered A: Is this going to benefit me? B: Can it be used in my situation and finally: Where is the cheapest place to get one.
My points dont have either KD or ND on them, but looking at pics of both I have visually come to the answer that mine is KD,

Yes, the Dyna S should work OK for you. No "CDI" (it's not actually CDI on the EI bikes, but an igniter) necessary, it's "baked in" to the Dyna, which hooks right up to your coils. The main benefit would be that you no longer have to worry about points or condensers.

It's tough to say where you can get a Dyna cheapest in NZ. z1enterprises.com is a trusted seller who carries that unit, and I think they do international shipping. Best to check with them for starters. ATV Galaxy is an eBay seller which also claims to ship worldwide, and they sell Dyna for a very good price.

Thanks for that, yes I see Z1 have them and I am used to getting plenty from the States as unfortunately we dont get great deals on stuff like this in NZ, tiny population which means no one stocks this stuff, or its mega expensive.

The KD ignition has the ends of the condensors facing out. The ND has the condensors horizontal below the points

The Dyna S is great. Give it 12V and you're good for the next 20 years

So if I want to use a small battery, (I want to use a YS12-4B scooter battery as its kick only), will this be ok? sorry for my electrical ignorance.

Cheers, will I need "special" ignition coils or will the standard ones work?
