Check Panel Location

Anybody know where the check panel circuitry is located? Is it built into the instrument panel or located elsewhere on the bike? Is it potted?

Ah, the old check panel wiring. It's really easy.
Don't know what your problem is with it, but most times it's that not so little relay box under the tank.
I had alot of problems with my bike when I got it. But there were two different problems with my check panel wiring. One was intermittant
relays in that check panel box, and the other was a intermittant ground which was caused by the oil pressure switch. That ground completes the circuit when your engine isn't running, when you start your bike the oil pushes up on the switch effectively opening your circuit and your check lights go out. The sidestand and neutral light work independantly from the rest of your other lights.

Now it's located under the right side of your tank mounted to the frame (the rubber usually gives way and they fall off). The turn signal flasher is located under the tank on the left side.

You sure about that? being under the seat that is. I'm absolutely sure it's under the tank, mine's an '82 though.
Item 28 in this fische, I ususally pick 'em up on E-bay fairly decent priced, might have to go through a few to get a good one, but challenge the ones that don't work and they refund your hard earned dough, at least that's how it worked for me.

There's info on the check panel on page 11-21,22 and it also shows you the location on page 15-52, (on the frame under the tank!).

Also, the battery light works independantly from the other idiot lights, there's a wire that goes into one of the cells to detect your voltage, voltage low, lights up, but...........most people just run a wire to the hot side of the battery since the batteries with the post holes are expensive.

Thanks for the info. Mine is functioning correctly I just need to mod it because I did the headlight relay mod and my headlight indicator is always on now. I plan on bypassing the circuit with my own current sensing circuit to control the indicator light. Once I get the parts and verify that it works I will share.

Tina and I modeled up a quick circuit today that appears to work. Now I just need to find the time to do it!
