I do the same thing, minus the monkey. And I use a flathead...

Of course, it becomes a real PITA if the plastic bushing has separated from the metal housing.

        I used a glove.

That's the only real help I can offer.

You'll get it GK. At least it isn't stalling on you.

got to get a glove, or a screwdriver

and it's not stalling at the moment, either because I am blipping the throttle and or the idle is so high, it's one or the other...

          Thanks for the encouragement...

"Bring up the idle". What exactly does that mean, please?
It sounds like you are now too lean. If so, take it back to the previous setting (CCW, richen it) 1/4 turn. Try that. I have an idea, which I have discussed with someone else, actually a couple of members, but it will take a bit more fiddling. And please do not try to not keep it running by blipping the throttle. That masks the issue.

I adjusted the idle screw to bring it up, it was going below 1000

Thanks for the quick reply. Go back to your previous setting on the screws and report back, please. There is a special circumstance which may be your case as well. We can walk through that also.

so screws will go back out to 2.0 turns, I will adjust idle once she is warm, and let you know...

                  Hopefully sometime after work....

I did not change the mixture screws but I had the bike warm and running and adjusted the idle and then shut her down....

She starts, she goes, she dies at lights unless I keep on blipping the friggen throttle, once I get to work and stop, she will and or will not idle....

anyone want to buy a bike.......

                        I have had enough............................................ ..................

at least I can keep an eye on her...

Say it ain't so GK! Say it ain't so!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Just walk away and take a break.

Go shooting. Just don't use the bike as a target.

Well, I do have another idea, and lets see if it turns up anything....

It was suggested to get another set of carbs, (Thanks Spyug) one's that have been cleaned and setup and ready to go, new O rings dipped, etc....this is an option I could think about if there is a set that someone has and will let go for a cheap price....

                            and or

does anyone have stock jets for my current carbs, seems the one up size I have might be causing me issues as well, maybe someone has a set they are not using or can part with for a bit, loan them out perhaps, I would buy new ones but it's a waste of cash if that don't fix the issues...

                            and or

I am going to take the bike to the range....well not really but I will take the bike to a shop, if I can find one I can trust and one that will work on 30 year old bikes....have a place close by, will go and talk to them maybe today.....

otherwise I am open to any and all other ideas....

                            Thanks guys....

Hey GT, actually no worse and no better, seems to be the same,,,,,pain in the a$$

Please replace those pilot jets with the stock size. They are too large.

that is option 1 (anyone have some stock ones I can borrow ? )

other is put on pods and get rid of stock airbox

get another set of cabs that are stock from the get go and try them...
