Plugs, Wires, Caps and Resistance

After some reading about plug wires, I wanted to nail down the resistance issue in the Coils to Spark Plugs sequence.

Just picked up some new green Dyna Coils and some copper core (not suppression) plug wires.

The plug wires come with caps, but my current plug caps look pretty good, no cracks etc..

As I understand things, there needs to be resistance in some part of the line, usually the plug caps. I think my current plug caps are resistor types, because I have to remove the terminal nuts before connecting a new plug to them.

These new wires come with caps that require keeping the terminal nut on the plug, the wires include some terminal nuts I can use on my nut-less plugs. I take it that means they are not resistor caps, so the plug has to have resistance in the form of that nut on the tip.

Thus, if I have this straight, I can either:

A - use the caps that came with the new wires with resistor terminal nuts on the plugs; OR

B - install my current plug caps onto the new wires and continue to use plugs with no terminal nut.

If so, are there pros or cons to either of these options?

If not, what am I missing?

If you run the entire system with NO resistors in it, you get the best spark possible.
Of course, it might mess up the radio reception of those around you though.
It is actually illegal to run a non-supressed system in some States. You might want to check.
In VA. it might have been illegal and the LEO next to me in traffic kept looking around trying to figure out why his radio wasn't working quite right. Whoops!

Resistor plugs are essential if you have any kind of electronics on the bike, the power loss is minimal so there isn't an advantage to using non resistor components. Some plugs are resistor type and that is why non resistor parts are available;

Typically the resistor end is 5K ohms. Another reason for resistor plugs was to extend the life of the points. This isn't a concern with electronic ignition but you will get a cleaner wave from resisted connections.

As a rule resistor caps are used with wire core leads and non resistor caps are used with either resistor plugs or resistor wires.

Yes, just use resistor plugs along with the Dyna wires. Problem solved.
