I briefly noticed the GS charging problem with these while looking around here and wondered..On my 79' 850 GS, if I were to experience this failure what is the cost for these parts/repair? TIA!

A used stator will run you $10~35 USD. A new one somewhere around $140. A used Honda R/R will set you back $25~40 USD. -
If look for used stator, keep in mind that 78-79 will be different than 80 and after. 78-79 has lesser number of poles. If you were to get a 80 or later that has more poles, it will not put out more power, it will not work much at all cuse the pole spacingwill not match the spacing of the magnets.

12 pole stator can be hard to find.. If yours is good ? I would go thru the wiring and install a Honda regulator even if your reg checks good.. and add a ground wire from the reg to the battery. You could use a 16 pole stator buit would have to change the rotor to matchComment
