If i get this for my 1981 GS 750..do i also have to get new coils?

you dont HAVE to but it is very worth while to do so.
you do not need to buy anything else

just got the bike it is REALLY REALLY and I mean REALLY cold natured. think the upgrade may help

maybe you should spend your money on getting the rest of the bike in tip top condition before spending it on things you may not need.
get the valve clearances done,carbs cleaned and synched, check all the electrics over etc.
a new ignition system will not magically fix any other problems the bike has
