Give me specific R/R info please...

Hello all, I have an 83 GS750E. What I would like is a few SPECIFIC model/ part numbers of Series Reg/ Rec that I should use to update my system. Either new ,aftermarket or other OEM types.

    Thanks!

IMHO the CompuFire 55402 is the best series R/R on the market for our bikes. It's also the most expensive. I used to replace headlight bulbs every 4 to 6 months using the old style Suzuki style R/R's. Since installing the CompuFire, I'm still using the same bulb, so in headlight bulbs alone, I've paid for the CompuFire.

Not to downplay the CompuFire, but I installed one, along with a new stator, in my wife's bike last year.
So far, I have not seen all those magic numbers that everyone else is enjoying.
Yes, it's charging. It will go down the road at 14+ volts, but still idles around 13.
Yes, it has new connections straight from stator to R/R.
Yes, the R/R is connected directly to the battery.
      Yes, it's a good battery.

When I get around to cleaning up the electrical side on "Junior", I plan on installing one from a 2011 Polaris Ranger 800.
It is a series regulator that will handle what our bikes can generate and the price for a NEW one is ... get this ... $67.92.

Nice find! That's about half what I paid for my Cycle Electric series r/r, and probably half the size, too.

I have not seen the Cycle Electric R/R of which you speak, but this is the same size as the FET shunt regulators that we were moving to a couple of years ago.
Same size and connector layout, so if you have one of those installed, it will be REAL easy to switch to the Polaris R/R.

Is that the 4012941? It's a few bucks less at Partzilla but no free shipping. This was the cheapest I found it when I got around to ordering and most sites I'd bookmarked had jumped 30-35% over a few days.
