    197 8GS 750 no power

Just rebuilt the carbs on my bike and was going to take it for a little ride. When I put the key in to start it nothing happens, I mean no lights, no oil light, gear or neutral lights. Ran it down the street and jumped it worked and idled fine. Shut it off and tried again no joy. Does anyone have any idea of where to start looking for the problem

    Thanks

My guess would be the one and only fuse on the bike.

Without the fuse, current can not get from the battery to the bike, but once you bump-start the engine, the charging system will power the bike. Because the fuse is apparently not intact, you will not be charging the battery, though.

Test the fuse just because it looks good doesn't mean a thing

Again, do you have a multi-meter?
