Where to buy a good R/R? (not expensive)

I'm looking for a good used r/r, i looked on ebay for a late model honda cbr1000 unit and price range is quite large. i would like not to pay too much, but afraid from the cheap ones.
is there a reliable place to get a good used unit - it doesnt has to be from a CBR100 of course, just a good modern one.

Have you posted in Parts Wanted? With many switching to the MOSFETs and Series units, someone might have one they are looking to unload.

Shindengen made millions of this model for Kawasaki- a little smaller than hormal Shindengen but should be adequate .BUT, have you followed the discussion regarding the SH775 R/R ? If you have Polaris ATV dealers in your corner of the planet, it could be the last R/R you and your stator ever need.

Hi there mate, if its worth anything I'll say that I bought a similar looking unit off eBay a year ago for my 2001 Honda VTR1000F. It is currently running strong and I've got no worries at all with it, even after only paying $20 posted from China.

Just goes to show that its not a hugely complex bit of engineering - my $20 unit has far outperformed the original Honda one, hell, the original Honda unit didn't even have a heat sink!

The best of the shunt type R'R's are still liable to cost you a stator and another R/R. The cheapest of the series R/R's (you won't find a used one) is in the $70.00 range, but likely the last investment in expensive electrical components you will ever have to make. A short term long term tossup, the cheap components could easily cost more in the long run unless it is just a repair to sell the bike. the Polaris 35A 3PH Series Regulator 105C 4012941 (SH-775) is currently the cheapest series R/R to be had.

MOSFET and SERIES are two different thinsgs the MOSFET is SHUNT like 99% of the rest.

Have you heard of "murphy's Law" ? I hope you "got no worries at all", but some Chinese knockoffs are pitifully unreliable. Honda had reputation of using good quality components.

Not all Polaris R/R's are three phase, and why would pay $45.00 for a used R/R when you can get the real deal for under $70.00. 35A 3PH Series Regulator 105C 4012941 (SH-775)? The shunt type R/R dogs your stator 24/7 regardless if it is charging or not. The series R/R turns on and off depending on demand, giving the stator a bit of a rest. The stator will run cooler, not heat the oil as much and is not load dependent. Just by design of operation the series R/R avoids a lot of situations that kill the shunt R/R's along with stators. I changed mine when the series R/R was close to $200.00 and would do it again even at that price for the benefits of a series R/R. Now you can get one for a lot less and it is closer to the design specs of the GS series bikes.

Oldvet66- what a SH775 salesman! I hope Polaris doesn't figure out that we ain't using these things on ATVs.
