    Main Fuse keeps blowing

    Hi!

    Just bought a GS 450a Suzukimatic (I know - but I'm a chic :-) )

    I was driving a couple days ago and the left hand switch fell off - When I screwed it back on for some reason the blinkers weren't working. I took the switch apart but didn't see anything odd, so I put it back together screwed it back on. Turned it on - no signals. Turned it off - looked in the headlight bucket - saw two red cables that weren't connected to anything. put it all back in the bucket. Tried to turn the bike back on, but this time this time nothing happened. The main fuse was blown. I replaced it, but every time I turn the switch it blows the fuse...

    Thoughts? how should I fix this? Also - is there any manuals about?

      Welcome aboard there is a tonne of info, but first thing you need a is a manual and a schematic. Basscliff has a site that probably has one for your bike.

      As a first start; disconnect your R/R and just turn the key see if it still blows. From there it will be a process of elimination.

      If the removal of the R/R doesn't do it then
      remove all of the fuses and replace the main and try again. If that sopes it then it is in one of your circuits. If not inspect for shorts between fuse box and battery (after going to the ignition switch).

          My guess is that there is something pinched in that switch that you took apart and put back together.

              unplug the stator wires and see if it blows again.
              this is common when the stator shorts out.

                  I believe the 450 only has one fuse, wife's 450 did till I rewired it with full fusebox. I bet Steve is right, would make sense that some wire got pinched or maybe disconnected inside the switch and is shorting out fuse. I would check inside there first. terrylee
