YAY. Fun with old brittle wiring. What should I do?

Blew the main. ok, change it out. The mystery red and blue wires to RR harness are HOT. the plugs has been worked on. There is a white with red from harness that is broken, due to brittle. Plug has melted in the past.
Checked diagram. not sure its the right one. Hard to read on iPad. don't have paper diagram. Hopefully pictures will help. I think the white with red is a sensor or power. she was running so well, it was her night to meet the guys at the vintage bike night. must be stage fright. Thank go the TL fires right up.

Actually the white with red wire is one of the stator wires and you need to do some maintenance on you electrical . Check your welcome from Basscliffs site and go to the stator pages. Biggest thing is clean up all connections and make sure EVERYTHING is grounded well

Not only clean up the wiring, rewire the charging system before you cook the harness. Been discussed dozens of times before so don't want to rehash, but yes, Basscliff's site has all the particulars.

Ah, I remember the days. Be certain and go through the entire wiring harness, including inside the headlight shell. You will most likely find similar conditions in there as well.
When you go to BassCliff's site, download the color wiring diagram. Print it out and take it to Kinkos or similar and have it enlarged to 11x17. Make several copies. With some highlighters you will be able to trace all your various circuits to make sure you have continuity and that things are electrically correct.

You can buy a new harness and start out fresh with a good treatment of Deoxit and lots of heat shrink big enough for the connectors and use tie stips or spend about 5 or 6 hours undoing and replacing a bunch of botched stuff.

All true. I am currently (no pun intended) going through all the connectors in the wiring harness of my GPZ, can of Deoxit in hand. For some reason, the Kawasakis do not have any of the electrical issues of the GS series, but I am doing preventive maintenance.
Not sure what they did differently, but I sure wish Suzuki would have done it the same way.

New RR on the way. Its not very pretty and i would just feel better knowing its new. Clean up of harness in that area will begin. I have a co plete dyna s system with coils waiting to go on anyway. No relay mod, just a hidden toggle switch/anti theft switch.
