Dyna S modification question for GS650E ?

Hello all and thank you for viewing my first post.


Several months ago I bought a non running 1982 GS650E and just recently have been getting around to fixing it up. I've tested the electrical system and now believe the CDI box (though I read somewhere that its not a true CDI box?) is no longer working and I'd like to replace it with a Dyna S ignition system. However, I cannot find one that fits the GS650E. Yet there seems to be one for every other size. Can I modify the connection somehow from one that fits a nearby size? Or am I excluded entirely from the Dyna S club.

I think the DS3-2 is the one.

Hmm. I'm willing to give it a try, but on Dennis Kirk and Old Bike Barn they list nearly every other GS as being compatible with the DS3-2 except the 1982 GS650E.

Your bike uses the exact same ignition plate and signal generators as the GS550, which the Dyna S fits. Sleuth around the parts fishe and check it out for yourself. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

I used the ds3-2 with dc1-1 coils on me 650e.
