    wiring harness question

does anybody know if wiring harnesses interchange from year to year or model to model? I have a GS 1100 e, 1981, with a questionable wiring harness.
1981 GS 1100e turbo, 83 motor, turbo pistons, new head, new turbo, backed and welded clutch basket, Dyna S ignition, cbr 929 front end, gsxr 750 rear end with 190 tire, all carbon fiber covered bodywork.

    P/N 36610-49220 fits...

    1981 SUZUKI GS1100EX

Maybe other years, such as 1980 (p/n 36610-49200), can be modified enough to make it work.

rustybronco is correct, the only other possible fit would be the 1980 1100E, mainly due to the instrument panel with its outline of a motorcycle for idiot light indicators. They were the only two bikes with that particular configuration.

Are there any "kits" available that provide the necessary color coded wire and connectors to make your own or would you have to source the pieces individually if you wanted to build a new harness?

You could pull a color schematic off of Cliffs site and make your own.
