Stator check without running bike
I've found partially melted connectors between the stator and R/R. I had to break both 9-pin connectors under the tank because the 2 halves were nearly fused together on both of them. Tested the R/R, and it is faulty. I can't run the bike right now until I get new connectors. Is there a way to test the stator without running the bike? Any chance it's still good?https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

Did you do the resistance checks in the Stator Papers? -

It will tell you if it's shorted, or if it's open. If it passes the test it's probably good.
If it doesn't pass it's bad for sure.Comment

Not rewiring your charging system is on the Top Newbie Mistakes list. Too bad more people don't fix this issue before they melt down their wiring harness.Ed

Agreed
I agree totally. I haven't even ridden this bike yet and I am replacing a bunch of overheated connectors. Luckilly, it's just the connectors. All wires look good. R/R to be replaced with a series type and wired directly to the stator, bypassing the forward loop. All grounds will be checked and cleaned. Hopefully, the stator is ok. I wish the PO had checked this stuff!https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

It passed
Maybe I've got a good one. Passed the resistance and ground checks. I'll still need to check the output once the new connectors arrive.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

Check the output with the bare wires off the stator. Not connected to anything but the meter.Comment

That's the plan
Sounds like a good plan! I wouldn't want to hook it back up to that faulty R/R anyway. I'll check it first before ordering my new R/R. Looks like I can still get the SH775 for just over $60 plus shipping.

Their pricing is pretty good on OEM Suzuki parts too.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

stator good!
After replacing all those melted connectors, I was able to fire her up today. The stator is good! Hoo-ray! I'll be asking Santa for that new R/R now. Fork seals and tires left to go, then I'll just need some warm days for riding!https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs
