    crimping tool

I've just received new connectors to spruce up my wiring harness. I'm looking for an inexpensive open barrel crimping tool. Everything I've seen online is $35 or more. Anyone have ideas?

That's about right; I got mine for that price from Vintage Connections and love it.

Yeah, that's about as cheap as you'd want to go anyway. Open barrel crimps need a solid crimp tool to do a worthwhile job. That said, you'll love the results.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just seems like a lot for a tool that won't get much use. Guess I'll have to buy a few more bikes!

            Unbelievable service

The service from Vintage connections is fantastic! Last Sunday, I ordered a bunch of connectors from them. They shipped Sunday evening. (I don't know how, but they did). I received them on Wednesday. They are West coast, and I'm completely on the opposite coast. I could stick my toes in the Atlantic Ocean in 20 minutes.

Well, me being a bonehead thinking I could save a buck on a crimping tool, didn't order it. I spent 3 hours today driving all over town trying to find one. Couldn't find one at any price. Get back home, order from Vintage connections, and they've shipped it out less than 2 hours later. You can't do better than that!

Edit - They shipped less than an hour after I placed the order!

The cheap one I have for home I picked up at the local electronics place. It's similar to the old "super champ" ones for insulated barrel crimps. Not exactly high quality however it does have cutters for metric machine screws which is sometimes handy.

              Similar to this...

              Crimp tool

But it wasn't $100 (which for real crimpers is cheap)

I ordered the cheap crimped from the other guy and it would not even crimp the ring lugs I bought from the same place. I just this evening received the VC $35 model with all 3 of the aditional jaws. It crimps all the ringlets I have nicely and does it in one step. nice.

                  works great!

Replaced connectors yesterday using the VC crimping tool. It works like a charm. Had to place another order yesterday for some terminals I missed on the first order. They shipped immediately - again. And only $2.95 for postage. That place is great. Best vendor I've ever seen.
