Various electrical questions

So I'm finally back to the electrical part of the build so here comes the questions.

-First, because I won't have a gear shift indicator can I remove the gear shift wire that is attached near the front sprocket?

-Second, because there's a good chance I might be going with a ballistic battery since I have very little room left to hide the batter I need to upgrade the regulator. I was told they are sensitive with voltages going above 14.5 and the regulator helps with that. Any specific type of regulator would you guys recommend?
-Third, I've bought LED signals so I've heard there is an alternate component I could buy instead of getting resistors for each signal, but I'm not sure process

-Fourth, Since I have the glass fuse box I want to go through bikeCliff's mod to switch to actual fuses. Because I'm changing up so much can I still follow this step by step? Is there a particular model of bike I need to buy the fuse box from or any will work?

A series rectifier/regulator.

My flasher has two connects if you look at the attached picture so would this part work?

You need to look at your flasher to see if the B and L are in the same location.

The B and L are in the same position. The power markings on my current flasher show:
12.8v
23w x2 +3.4w
21w x2 +3.4w

The one I want to purchase shows:
12v
10A max

I assume that this one will work

Yes.

No clue what a "ballistic battery" is (I have always thought of 'ballistic' as being related to weapons), but I will assume you are meaning a smaller battery. Apparently you are buying that "to upgrade the regulator". No clue about that, either. What to recommend? A series-type regulator. Compufire is one brand, the last time I looked at a price for one, it was over $150. Polaris is another brand, I just got one for under $70 (shipped).

Others have already given you guidance on the flasher relay. The one you showed should work just fine.

By the way, if you were to install resistors, you would not need to do it at each signal. If you install the correct resistor, you could do ONE between the flasher relay and the hand switch. If you go between the hand switch and the signals, you will need two, one for each side.

Not quite sure how to tell you this, but your glass fuses ARE "actual" fuses.

If you are looking for a more-modern blade fuse, they showed up in some of the GS models during '82.

You can go aftermarket with a fuse panel, but be aware that the cheap fuse blocks from an auto parts store will require some creative wiring for them to work correctly. Betting one that is more-specifically for a motorcycle application, you will be spending about $60, but the additional flexibility is worth it.

Ok, so bought the flasher unit and unplugged the gear shift indicator.

I'm currently looking for a rectifier/regulator so are there any specifications I need to consider? It looks like the stock has 3 wires going to the stator and 1 to positive? I plan to buy the battery below because of the size so I can hide it under the rear hump. From reading around in the forums these batteries are sensitive to voltages getting highter than 14.5 so when buying a regulator that is the main concern I have in mind. Besides matching up the wiring is there any voltage cap specs I need to consider?

Do yourself a favor, don't buy EITHER of them. Get a Polaris unit for about $70.

Not sure what wire goes through the headlight bucket, but you should definitely wire all three stator wires directly to the three input wires of the R/R.

Why do you think you need a stator. Have you checked yours to see if it's bad or not?
