Wiring confusion behind headlight GS 1100 EZ

    Hi all

    GSX 1100 EZ

I replaced my steering head bearings so hence needed to dismantle most of the front end. I'm in the process of hooking up all the wires that sit behind the headlight. Most of it is simply connecting the electrical plugs/blocks to each other. There are some loose wires however that obviously connect up to each other but i'm struggling to match them up correctly. I took some photo's before dismantling so am certain i have the plugs/blocks correct. I do have electrical diagrams but am not very good at reading them. Any help appreciated.

Reading a wiring diagram is easy. Get yourself a straight edge and trace where the wires go. Most GS circuits use unique colors for each device so you can figure out where the wires go based on color. The loose wires are most likely for the turn signals. Look at the diagram and figure out what color goes to which side and go from there.

The loose wires are the brake switch, turn signals, start button wire, clutch interlock switch and aux.
The diagram will tell you what goes where and the brown is extra.

Tell us what wire colors you have left over, and someone can help describe what they are.
Or by then maybe you could find them on schematic

Helpful hint, take a copy of your wiring diagram to kinkos have them blow it up as much as they can. You wont regret it.

Nearly there i got all the wires hooked up just have three left. Thers a black and white wire which comes out of the main wire harness (near the head light plug) and then a grey and a brown wire left. All have female connections but the B/W wire a po has done a repair so it may have once had a male connector, i'll take some pics later that may help. Thanks for the replies so far. PS any one have any hints tip to getting the wiring back in the headlight shell so the head lamp goes in easier.

From memory the white is headlight and the grey is turn signal.
The brown is auxiliary and is for your own personal add on items.

                I just went to Basscliff's website...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Opened up the 1100 wiring diagram...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/...wiringdia_.jpg

Looked at the headlamp area (left side) and noticed there are three unused plugs: Gr (gray), B/W (black/white), and Br (brown).

Please look for yourself to confirm. If I can do this so can you.

Thanks for the replies, it has now been made clear to me. I did say that i didn't know how to read a wiring diagram. I didn't really notice those three wires didn't connect to anything and should have worked it out myself. My bad. Thanks again for everyone that helped.
