    stator differences 1100esd vs 1100 ez/ed

hey all, can anyone tell me the difference between the stator in the 1983 1100 esd and the 83 1100 ez/ed? Part #'s are different, thinking of replacing my stator as preventative maintenance. Thanks in advance!

What! some guys on here have never replaced theirs! I'd test it first- I bet you've seen this link

Even if it looks good, consider an upgrade to a series R/R as preventative maintenance- might let your stator last indefinitely.

both are large stators and should interchange.
there may be a difference in the wires ends.

Yes. The aftermarket vendors list the same part as fitting several bikes, yours included. The difference is usually the connectors. Suzuki will change the part number for any little difference; color, length of wire, type of connector, etc.

I am somewhat fascinated by the part in bold.

The "EZ" was the '82 E, the "ED" was the '83 E.

          Sorry, but you can't have an '83 1100 EZ/ED.

          Which stator you going with?

I have a freshly-rewound one here that I can toss your way for $85.

There is no difference in the two stators.
Buy Steve's stator and get a Series R/R and forget about your charging.

series reg already installed, along with the sspb which i finished wiring last night. steve, i would be getting one of your rewinds, just have to figure a way around the finance minister, wink. ez/ed comes from the parts fische, quoted here: http://www.suzukipartshouse.com/oemp...or-gs1100ez-ed
thanks for the info guys, don't know what i would do without this place.

That happens occasionally, and it just shows that there were some parts that would fit either model, the EZ or the ED.
